How To Build A King Size Platform Bed With Storage Underneath

Materials and Tools You'll Need:

2x6 lumber (8 pieces, each 8 feet long)

1/2-inch plywood (1 sheet, 4 feet x 8 feet)

Step 1: Cut the Lumber

Start by cutting the lumber to the following lengths:

2x6 lumber: 4 pieces at 75 inches, 4 pieces at 80 inches

2x4 lumber: 6 pieces at 75 inches

1x12 lumber: 2 pieces at 80 inches

Step 2: Assemble the Frame

Use wood screws to assemble the frame of the bed. First, attach the 2x6 lumber to the 2x4 lumber to create the sides and ends of the bed. Then, attach the 1x12 lumber to the top of the frame to create the headboard and footboard.

Step 3: Add the Slats

Cut the 1/2-inch plywood into 12 slats, each 75 inches long and 5 inches wide. Attach the slats to the frame of the bed using wood screws, spacing them evenly apart.

Step 4: Add the Storage Boxes

Cut the 1x12 lumber into 6 pieces, each 18 inches long. These pieces will form the sides of the storage boxes. Attach the sides to the frame of the bed using wood screws.

Step 5: Add the Bottoms and Tops

Cut the 1/2-inch plywood into 6 pieces, each 18 inches long and 36 inches wide. These pieces will form the bottoms and tops of the storage boxes. Attach the bottoms to the sides of the boxes using wood screws. Then, attach the tops to the sides of the boxes using wood screws.
