  • Drawer fronts (2 pieces, 56 inches x 18 inches)
  • Drawer side panels (4 pieces, 17 inches x 18 inches)

  • Drawer bottom panels (2 pieces, 36 inches x 17 inches)
  • Wood screws
  • Wood glue
  • Finish of your choice (e.g., paint, stain)

Tools:

  • Circular saw
  • Drill
  • Countersink bit
  • Pocket hole jig
  • Clamps
  • Sandpaper
  • Paintbrush or sprayer (if painting)

Instructions:

1. Construct the Side Rails:

Cut eight pieces of 4x4 lumber to 84 inches in length. Cut two of the 2x4 lumber pieces to 76 inches in length and attach them to the ends of each 4x4 using wood screws and glue. These will form the side rails.

2. Build the Headboard and Footboard:

Cut two pieces of 2x6 lumber to 84 inches in length. Cut two pieces of plywood to 56 inches x 76 inches. Attach the plywood to the 2x6 lumber using wood screws and glue. Position one plywood sheet at the top for the headboard and the other at the bottom for the footboard.

3. Assemble the Frame:

Place the side rails parallel to each other, spacing them 56 inches apart to fit the width of the plywood panels. Attach the headboard and footboard to the side rails using wood screws and glue. Reinforce the joints with pocket screws.

4. Build the Storage Drawers:

Cut the drawer fronts, side panels, back panels, and bottom panels to the dimensions specified. Assemble the drawers using wood screws and glue, ensuring they fit snugly within the frame.

5. Install Drawer Slides:

Attach the drawer slides to the sides of the frame and the drawers. Make sure the slides extend fully when the drawers are opened.

6. Finishing:

Sand the entire frame and drawers to remove any splinters or rough edges. Apply your desired finish, whether paint, stain, or clear sealant. Allow the finish to dry thoroughly.

Conclusion:

Congratulations on crafting your very own functional and stylish double bed frame with storage drawers! Enjoy the convenience of having ample storage space within easy reach while elevating the aesthetics of your bedroom. This project not only provides a practical solution but also serves as a testament to your DIY skills.
